PARIS GUIDE: L’ECLAIR DE GENIE

Is it possible for an eclair to change one’s handwriting? I wouldn’t have thought so, until Faye took me by L’eclair de Genie. Until then, the eclair had always been a little too squishy for my very texture-specific pallet (as well as a bit too similar to a Twinkee to be taken seriously), but this little shop in the Marais elevates the sweet to a level I never imagined possible. We ordered the orange-pistachio and vanilla-cassis flavors, and I know I’ve gotten quite spoiled in Paris, what with baked goods being both beautiful and delicious, but these might take the cake (or the eclair) in both categories.

  1. Haha I must admit that I wasn’t a big eclair fan before I came to Paris although for different reasons! But with patisseries that good it’s almost difficult not to love them xxx
