the perish trust

May 2, 2012

I generally don’t have a lot of rules in life, but when it comes to fashion there are a few policies I try to adhere to. Never make the same mistake twice, right? (I’m talking to you, rompers).

Rule (or rather, guidelines) #1: Never spend more than $80 on jeans. (And even then, preferably no more than the $30-$40 range. My cat sits on my lap and destroys them all, with no regard to price or fit. I’ve also never noticed that big of a difference to warrant spending anything above thos range. That being said, the guideline may be subject to change, once the cat passes)

Guidelines #2: Never spend more than $25 on sunglasses. (Preferably instead in the $10-$15 range. I destroy them. Every time. Like clockwork.)

Last weekend I found a pair of frames at the Perish Trust on Divisadero that breaks guidelines #2 by about 200%. The store itself if a haven for any human who likes the old, the strange, and the unique. Everything I saw I either wanted for myself or recognized it as the perfect gift next time a birthday comes around for most people I know. Or both. The decor is also inspiring, and for some reason, it really makes me want to drink a whiskey cocktail. If these folks ever get a liquor license they’ll make a killing.

The sunglasses are by Warby Parker, and they’re amazing, and I can’t stop thinking about them. For that price, do you think they’ll throw in an unbreakable–bullet proof–idiot proof carrying case?
